Reading that blog makes me feel very...white...and slightly embarrassed! It's true, I like my "up-and-coming" neighborhood, I like Mos Def (but not most hiphop), and I like indie rock, Michael Gondry music videos, public radio, the Sunday NY Times, my arts degree, and Japan (at least in theory - I haven't actually been there yet but I swear I will someday soon). In fact, the only two things that don't apply to me are "Sarah Silverman" and "Standing still at concerts (I, for one, bounced around like crazy at last year's Belle and Sebastian show!)
Still, I hope Obama is able to fulfill his promise. That's probably something a white person would say, huh? :-P
It could happen. Your own brother had to be taught at school to notice. In second grade he came home in tears, "Mom, what color am I?"
Keep up the good work. Mom
